Avoid alcohol altogether. Alcohol and cigarettes go together like clouds and rain. Scientists don't really understand why beer and other drinks cause such a powerful urge to smoke, but there's no getting around the fact that they do. You don't necessarily have to become a teetotaler for life, but don't drink until you've been off cigarettes for several months.
