The first aid that people think of when attempting to quit smoking is the quit smoking pill. Why? Well, in America and pretty much all over the world, taking medications or vitamins is a pill taking action. This route of administration surpasses all others because it is convenient and easy to do. If you are one of the millions that have a sensitive gage reflex, and you need to use a quit smoking pill like Zyban and Chantix, they may not work for you.

Zyban is a very popularly sold quit smoking pill. It originally was used only for symptoms of depression and doctors discovered that the majority of their patients were also able to use it to quit smoking for good. This was awesome!

Chantix on the other hand is not at all operational, on the same mechanism as Zyban. Chantix according to their literature works by blocking nicotine from hitting the nicotine receptors. They say this leads the smoker to decrease their use of smoking over time and ultimately they quit. There reported success rate is 44% but there seems to be some debate about that figure in the medical community.

What you can reach for next if you cannot swallow a pill or tolerate it are the quit smoking patches. The patches work on the common theory that giving your body gradually lowered amounts of nicotine over time will decrease the cravings and ultimately you'll quit smoking. This works for a ton of people. You should give it a try to, especially if you cannot swallow a pill. All you need to do is apply the patch to some part of your body and you are off. No need for water and struggling to swallow a pill.

The availability of the patch may be without a prescription in some parts of the world. Or if you live in the U.S. you may need a prescription from your health care provider licensed to dispense medication.

No matter which route you take, you will have to have the right mental attitude. That is, you've got to have will power to make any of these therapies work for you. The days of just taking a medication and doing nothing to help it along, are over. Your mind is so powerful that you may be able to quit smoking without any aids at all. I don't advise that tactic though. You should really strive to surround yourself with a very supportive group. This always makes what you are attempting to achieve much easier.

There is a therapy that involves CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This makes using your mind to quit smoking a snap. You can use CBT with or without quit smoking patches or pills. Using CBT results in NO side effects from drugs because you won't use any at all. All you need to do is read this resource and get going.
