5 Reasons to Stop Smoking

Written by V Pender on 10/30/2009

I am going to give you 5 reasons to stop smoking. As an ex smoker, I know that sometimes a simple nudge in the right direction can be all the incentive we need to finally quit smoking. My nudge came 15 years ago when my daughter told me I would not be allowed to hold my first grandbaby if I still smoked. I quit the same day she made that statement. I admit it was rough and I needed help to do it but it can be done! I sincerely hope when you read my reasons to stop smoking you will find one that gives you the incentive to quit.

1. Health

Within twenty minutes of taking your last puff on a cigarette, your body will begin healing itself from the damages of smoking. It is a great feeling to wake up every morning knowing you are healthier than you were the day before.

2. Cost

Depending on where you live, the average cost of a pack of cigarettes is $4.50 to $5.00. However, nicotine addiction is costly in more ways than just the initial purchase. Smoking could also cost you a job since many companies are turning smokers away. There is also the additional expensive of trying to keep your home, car and clothing from smelling like an ashtray.

3. Self Esteem

Today's smokers are made to feel like second class citizens. Your self esteem takes a beating when others look down on because of your addiction.

4. Sex

Smoking may have been sexy back in the day of Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn but we all know that no longer holds true.

4. Freedom

What a wonderful life when you no longer have to worry about being chained to a pack of cigarettes. Never again to worry if a restaurant has a smoking section or whether or not your friends will let you smoke in their homes. Go to work and forget about how many puffs you can get in on a fifteen minute break. Never again search the sofa cushions for enough change to get a pack. Walk or run without feeling like your lungs are going to explode! Enter into any social situation and know you look and smell great!

We know it is not easy to break a nicotine addiction but it can be done. When I quit I used a nicotine replacement aid. It worked for me and one can work for you. Find your reasons to stop smoking and then arm yourself with whatever aid you need to help you reach your goal!

Best Way to Quit Smoking - Be Rid of the Habit Once and For All

Written by V Pender on 10/16/2009

Cigarettes are parasitic—they take.  When you choose to smoke, a brainwashing occurs that makes you, the addict, believe that you receive something beneficial from smoking.  Cigarettes not only negatively impact your lungs, heart, and skin; they also affect your nervous system which ultimately takes a toll on your self-esteem.  Where is the benefit?  You convinced yourself to believe a lie.

You Believed a Lie

You became addicted to cigarettes by believing a series of lies.  It is time to know the truth.  In fact, smoking drains your time.  Imagine the hands of a clock.  Now imagine that the hands race each other around and around as fast as possible rather than measure time.  The clockmaker changed the goals and purpose of the clock.  This is what cigarette smoking does—it speeds up time and ages you. It changes your goals and purpose.  Your choice to smoke robs you.  In all honesty, it is not just an issue of your life span, but also your quality of life that is lessened.  The time you spend smoking is time you are not spending working, playing, being creative, loving your loved ones, etc., etc.  We believe we take a moment for ourselves, but cigarettes take moments upon moments from us.

We believe smoking gives us something to look forward to—a smoke after a meal, a smoke with some friends and good conversation, a smoke after a long days work. We lie to ourselves.  There is a whole world out there of things to look forward to that won't leave us with heavy financial consequence and punishing illness in the end.  We believe that we can not quit. We believe it is hard to quit.  Once again, we lie to ourselves.  Your thinking can be your biggest enemy in this case—you conditioned your brain to think in a pattern to preserve the smoking habit at all costs, you being the cost.  You need to reprogram your brain to think in a pattern that preserves your well being!  Discipline is imperative once you actually quit.  If you return to the smoking time and time again, you teach yourself that you can not be trusted and that you are weak.

The moment you feel the urge to smoke and experience a withdrawal, simply be present and feel your emotions and physical reactions.  Just be still. Don't act.  Just breath.  Do not entertain or involve yourself with persistent thoughts.  Try to watch the thoughts like watching a movie.  If you observe  them you are not a victim to them.  Your addiction-preserving thoughts only justify smoking a cigarette, believing that smoking alleviates the urge.  But smoking caused the urge to smoke.  The only thing that can alleviate the urge once and for all is to stop the habit.  Once you focus on the withdrawal pain you realize that it is not nearly as bad as your fear and your over thinking led you to believe.  You see that you can overcome this addiction.  You build confidence and the urge to smoke lessens with each victory.   You live your life, smoke-free!

What Happens When You Stop Smoking?

Written by V Pender on 10/16/2009

Giving up smoking might not be as severe as you fear, and for some it may pass within a few days. However, the side effects of quitting smoking are more rigorous as your body start to recover from the damage caused by smoking. For example, a wet chesty cough means you're getting rid of the rubbish in your lungs and it’s important not to be afraid of what may happen to you when you give up smoking. You need to focus on the positive changes while the side effects of quitting smoking. Most smokers experience some withdrawal symptoms when giving up smoking. These vary from one person to another and can include irritability, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, coughing, restlessness, disturbed sleep and mouth ulcers etc. You don’t need to worry in this situation, and may use some quit smoking help like E Cigarette. The good thing is that your body starts feeling the benefits as soon as you’ve smoked your last cigarette.

The large majority of smokers report that they want to stop but almost nine out of ten smokers state that they want to quit because of a health concern. After health reasons, the next most common reason given for wanting to give up is a financial one. Financial issue sounds quite obvious, because this is one of the reasons that people are switching to E Cigarette. E Cig as it can be refilled by E Liquid is quite cost effective in comparison to tobacco cigarette. Probably around half of all smokers make at least one attempt to stop in a given year but only about 2-3% of smokers succeed in the long term. It is not clear why some attempts to stop succeed and others do not. Smoking fewer cigarettes per day, not needing to smoke first thing in the morning and not suffering from mental health problems, or other addictions are favorable signs.

Many smokers continue smoking not through free choice but because they are addicted to cigarettes. A large part of this addiction arises from dependence on nicotine delivered rapidly to the brain with each puff. Nicotine complied with the established criteria for defining an addictive substance. Addiction does not mean that it is impossible to stop doing something; it just means that there are powerful urges and needs that have to be overcome in order to do so. Anything that can strengthen the resolve to resist these urges and needs or reduce their frequency or intensity can help in overcoming the addiction.

Medications aim to help smokers to stop by reducing the chemically-driven need to smoke while at the same time not themselves providing the same satisfaction as smoking and so not becoming the object of dependence. The assumption is that all the time that the smoker is not taking in nicotine from cigarettes the brain is gradually getting back to normal so that when the course of medication is completed, most smokers will be able to deal with the motivation to smoke without help.

Bryan is currently working on a quit smoking awareness program, and conducting researches on smoking alternatives, tobacco alternatives, E cigarette, e liquids and other areas for quit smoking help.

Stop Smoking Hypnosis Tips-5 Proven Tips to Make Your Stop Smoking Hypnosis Hypnosis Session a Success!

Written by V Pender on 10/11/2009

As you use hypnosis to stop smoking, keep these quit smoking tips in mind. The following stop smoking hypnosis tips will help guide you into a deeper, stronger, and more effective state of trance.

Remember, you’re in control. The hypnotist is just a guide assisting you in the process of awakening your subconscious mind.

Relax
Entering a trance state is about releasing the everyday stressors of your life. As you relax your body, you’ll be able to sense a greater clarity in your thought processes. You’ll be able to venture through the landscape of your mind with a sense of lucidity you might not have ever expected to experience!

Just breathe deeply and concentrate on your heartbeat, letting your thoughts float by without latching onto any one of them.

Stay Focused on the Hypnotist’s Voice
The hypnotist is there to guide you and assist you. The hypnotist will give you suggestions that will reinforce your experience of the hypnotic process, moving you further and further into deep states of trance.

Allow the hypnotist’s voice to fill your conscious mind, occupying it as you explore the exciting landscape of your powerful subconscious mind together.

Allow Yourself to Participate Fully in the Experience--Don’t Hold Back!
Ultimately, the effectiveness of your stress hypnosis session is up to you. Go into the session with a positive mindset, eager to create change in your state of mind.

Negative self-talk will only hold you back, not only in your hypnotic session, but in your life as well. Be ready to create change and open the pathway between your subconscious and conscious mind. You are the master of your own mind. Your willingness to create lasting change will determine the effectiveness of hypnosis on your life.

Hypnosis is a two-way street. It requires vital determination. But, most of all, it requires that you are willing to move into a deep and fulfilling awareness of self.

Notice Any Emotions and Where You Feel Them in Your Body
Believe it or not, we store emotions in specific parts of our body. That is why we usually carry different types of stress in different parts of our back and neck. Massage is an excellent way to release those emotions as well and can effectively be used in conjunction with hypnosis.

During your hypnosis session, pay attention to different feelings in your body. The awareness of where we keep different emotions is key to understanding and controlling them.

If a difficult emotion arises during your session, notice how it feels and moves in your body. Don’t attempt to avoid or repress these feelings. Open them up and explore them. Move your consciousness to the middle of these feelings.

If the feeling comes with a sense of motion or color, try moving the feeling in the opposite direction or assigning it a different, positive-associated color.

Have Fun and Enjoy Yourself
Aha! The most important tip of all time: enjoy yourself!

Hypnosis is a very exciting, fun, and rewarding experience. Many people "wake up" from the experience and feel a light, refreshed, "glowy" sensation in their bodies. Their minds feel clear and easy.

I hope you’re looking forward to your experiences with hypnosis as much as I always do. Have a good time!

When Is The Best Time To Quit Smoking? – Whenever!

Written by V Pender on 10/11/2009

If you are a smoker that's tired of the whole practice, you've probably wondered when is the best time to quit smoking? Well, the answer to that question is: Whenever you really want to. Ask yourself the following questions. Can you really think of any reasons to continue smoking? What is it that you'd be abandoning? What is there to profit by not smoking?

The crucial thing to know about smoking is; it is a decision and a choice. You smoke because you've decided and chosen to, plain and simple. Once you take the time and think about it you'll realize that you can decide and choose to stop smoking as well. No one or no thing can make you stop smoking if you don't want to. You must be willing and ready to quit for your own unique reasons.

When you make the decision and choose to give up smoking you will do so and it will be easy. Preparing to stop smoking and trying to pump yourself up for it can be very challenging, nerve-racking and just plain pointless. Every smoker comes to a point when they've, finally had enough. When you've gotten to your point, you will have all of the enticement you'll ever need and you can make the decision and choose to stop smoking once and for all.

You will feel the exhilaration of knowing that you are in control of your own body. You will also feel a hankering for the nicotine that you will be depriving your body of. This is to be anticipated. However, your perseverance to be the sovereign of your own body and your new found independence will give you the power to triumph over the urge to smoke. You will know the answer to the question, when is the best time to quit smoking?

Do not give up! Even if you have a weak moment and smoke a cigarette, you can always quit again. Just because you smoked a cigarette doesn't mean that you have to continue for another 5 or 10 years. Simply decide to give it up again. You must remember that you have the ultimate control over your own body. The hankering for nicotine will diminish more and more, the longer that you stay off of the cigarettes. Therefore, it will be easier to give up smoking as more time goes by, without the intake of nicotine.

Did you know that you could cut the time of craving nicotine in half by detoxifying your lungs? Once you have cleaned your lungs of the tar and nicotine, the cravings will cease forever. http://todayistheday-2-stopsmoking.com/

Stop Smoking Fast and Naturally - 2 Amazingly Simple Tips to Quit Smoking Fast!

Written by V Pender on 10/04/2009

If you are a college student or a teenager, smoking cigarettes is a phase you go through.  Most young adults take on smoking because of social reasons and high stress levels.  Though people make quitting hard on themselves, it is really an easy philosophy.

Just Say No.

Honestly, think about it this way when it comes to smoking, you have a choice.  Choice is one of the greatest gifts we have been given as humans.  We can decide whether or not we want to do something.  It all comes down to if you really want to or not.  Sure, quitting smoking may be difficult if you are constantly around people who smoke, but make a better situation out of it.  Realize that if you are trying to quit, and are in a room full of smokers, those people envy you!  Those people wish they could be like you, and that should be enough motivation to keep you on the right track to quitting smoking.

You Don't Want To Go Back On Your Word.  Prove People Wrong!

There is no pride in saying you are going to do something and then going back on your word.  When a smokers tells another smoke that they are going to quit, be honest, the other person know that you are probably just telling yourself you are going to quit but really they have no faith in you.  So, when you attempt to quit, and do not succeed, the person who was informed you were going to quit has just been proven correct.  So, if you are going to quit, keep it to yourself and do it for yourself just in case you do not succeed in quitting the first time.  If you insist on telling someone, this is a great way to keep yourself from picking up smoking again because you do not want to be known as that person who constantly tries to quit but can never successfully do it because they fall for peer pressure easily.

Here, since I know you are really trying to quit, USE THE SECRET WEAPON

Sure, have all the FREE QUIT SMOKING INFO you want! Good Luck, and remember IT IS NOT as hard as people say, think about it. If you keep the cigarette away from your lips, you have quit. It is seriously as simple as that! Prove to yourself that you do not have an addictive personality!

Quit Smoking Weed Out Of A Can! Lung Cancer Is Just The Beginning

Written by V Pender on 10/04/2009

Smoking weed out of a can is one of the most hazardous ways to ingest cannabis. What we're talking about here are aluminum cans from soda or beer or something like that, used as a home-made pipe sort of a device. It's a dangerous method if used over long periods of time, and should only be your last resort if no other method to smoke weed is available. Unlike a bong, it does not filter out the smoke through a liquid. And, unlike a blunt, there are other chemicals besides plant leaf that you inhale, like aluminum paint and adhesives. These are NOT good for your lungs, which is why smoking marijuana from a can should not be done frequently. Besides, it doesn't even look cool - smoking bud should be a socializing process, after all.

Making a can pipe is very simple, which is why a lot of teenagers are allured to it; it makes smoking weed possible almost anywhere where there's a gas station. Buy your soda, and drink it, or pour it out if you aren't thirsty and want to get high right then and there. You can discard the can opener that you squeeze to push the top of the can through to make your drinking hole. The drinking hole will be your mouth piece. Hold the can horizontally, the mouth piece facing you, and rotate it until the hole is at the top. Make a small indent in the top of the can with your thumb, it should be maybe half an inch deep at most. Using a needle or a thumbtack (the easiest would be a thumbtack), make about 20-30 holes in close proximity to each other inside of that indentation. The end result should look like this:

Throw your bud in the top of the can, where the indent is. The holes serve as the "pipe's" screen, letting the weed rest there, yet you can still inhale it. Light it, and start inhaling after 3-4 seconds of the bud being exposed to open flame. As an optional upgrade, you can make a hole through the other side of the pipe, opposite your mouth piece. This will be your "shotgun" that you put a finger over while hitting the bud, and at the end you'll release it, making all the built-up smoke inside the can exit through the mouth piece and straight into your lungs. Those hits are really harsh, so a shotgun is recommended only for experienced users.

Once again, this should ALWAYS be a last resort method. A vaporizer is much safer. If you smoke weed out of a can frequently, you inhale the paint and other aluminum-related chemicals just as often. Stick to a bong or roll joints, but don't try to smoke from a can a lot. It's quick and convenient, but there's a downside to it, and the health risks associated with smoking out of a can are just not worth it. If you're curious, take a look at the can once you're done smoking. Empty out the residue charcoal-black plant from the indent in the can, and look at it. It'll be stained with black tar and other crap - and that's just on the small outside part of the can. Imagine what's inside the can, and in your lungs.

Smoking is bad for you! The author recommends that you quit now. Detox your lungs! http://bit.ly/lungdetox
